Well, it’s not going to happen this year. The contrary blue tits have decided that my accommodation is inadequate and have sought premises elsewhere. I don’t know where they are nesting but in an act of defiance, they have decided to use my canteen facilities to support them while utilising a neighbour’s nest box. Meanwhile I’ve had to top up the garden pond with rain water to ensure the tadpoles are well supported, which is normally a cue for the heavens to open. A pair of blackbirds however have been more appreciative and are nesting somewhere in my dense hawthorn bushes. That’s nature of course and we have to adapt to the whims of the birds. It’s unfortunate that I won’t get my close up nesting pictures but more important that the blue tits raise a clutch of healthy offspring.
